The Festival of Paper-makers - Inauguration of the statue dedicated to the "vatman"
Wednesday 22nd July 2015, the “Festival of Paper-makers” was held in Fabriano, as in each year on the day of Saint Mary Magdalene (patron of paper-makers.) It had already been proclaimed in the 1400s , on 22nd July, with a decree by the Municipality of Fabriano. The devotion towards the saint has become more fervent following a miracle which took place in 1599.
On this occasion, the ‘Pia Università dei Cartai’ has since inaugurated right in front of the university campus, a cement statue dedicated to the "vatman" (he who manufactures paper by hand).
