The Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano and la cartiera Fabriano present Fabriano Paper PAVILION - A Wonderful Journey. The pavilion dedicated to paper in the ‘Complesso Storico delle Cartiere Miliani Fabriano’, on occasion ofXIII UNESCO Creative Cities Conference from June 10 to June 16, 2019, 2 pm - 8 pm.

FABRIANO PAPER PAVILION - A Wonderful Journey: a pavilion entirely dedicated to paper, conceived by the Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano and Cartiera Fabriano on occasion of the XIII UNESCO Creative Cities Conference, in the Historical Complex Cartiere Miliani Fabriano.

The places where ever since the XIII century water from the River Giano has favoured the development of paper mills, the spaces that have been the core of the Cartiera and the heart of the town of Fabriano, will be brought to life within a narrative itinerary through the world of paper and its history. Curated by Umberto Giovannini, A Wonderful Journey is an poetic pathway coming alive within the historical heritage of the paper mill thanks to iconographic structures by artists Gianna Bentivenga and Maria Pina Bentivenga, settings and ‘shadow thresholds’ by Anusc Castiglioni and lighting by Massimo Zanelli.

FABRIANO PAPER PAVILION will open the doors of the Historical Complex of the Cartiere Miliani Fabriano, inviting the public to a unique experience on the trail of its priceless treasures: 1500 items of watermarked paper, 1200 historical photographs, a library comprising over 3000 volumes, as well as 10000 pieces of equipment and machinery for the hand crafting of paper. A unique heritage shedding light on the town’s culture of craftsmanship, developed over 750 years of paper-making tradition. A wonderful journey, starting from the Historical Archive of the Cartiere Miliani, following the course of the river to the Storehouse of Historical Heritage Paper, never before open to the public, and reaching the recently restructured Club House Fabriano, where participants will be able to enjoy exhibitions of artist books, engraving and drawing, as well as the workshop The Ideal City led by Nick Morley and Umberto Giovannini. A separate space will give visitors the chance to experience machine typography, different typefaces and the scent of ink as they witness the live printing of an original graphic image complete with typographic text, which will then be offered to them as a gift and a souvenir.

FABRIANO PAPER PAVILION within the Historical Complex of the Cartiere Miliani Fabriano will join the 7 ‘pavilions of creativity’ animating the town on occasion of UNESCO’s Annual Conference, and will be open to the public (booking required) through a programme of guided tours on the following dates and times:

FREE entry visit from June 10 to June 16, 2019, 2 pm - 8 pm.
