KHARTASIA: a database for Asian paper.

The Khartasia database contains illustrated texts with photographs or drawings. It combines historical and technological information about components of paper-making plants, paper-making, paper names and characteristics of the fibres of paper. This is the result of the research made by CRCC (Centre de Recherche sur la Conservation des Collections) in Paris, which is conducting an in depth study on Asian paper , in collaboration with partner institutions in China, Korea and Japan.

Khartasia will improve the knowledge and understanding of the materials that constitute the works of art and documents produced with Asian paper.
