CCF Takes Center Stage at the 4th International Congress on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies
The Fabriano watermarks catalogue Corpus Chartarum Fabriano takes center stage at the 4th International Congress on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies.
The Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano took part as a speaker at the fourth edition of the International Congress on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies, organized by the Istituto di Bioeconomia del CNR of Firenze, the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale of Firenze and the Fondazione dell’Osservatorio Ximeniano, in collaboration with the Associazione di Conservatori Restauratori ConservArte. The event was dedicated to the most recent research in the field of technologies applied to the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
Representing the Foundation were Director Livia Faggioni and Giovanni Luzi, historian and watermark specialist, who presented “Watermarks Online: the Corpus Chartarum Fabriano (CCF) Project, Its Potential and Its Applications.”
The presentation highlighted the value of the Corpus Chartarum Fabriano, the major digital catalogue of historic Fabriano watermarks held in archives around the world: an extraordinary body of knowledge that today serves as an advanced tool for dating, research, and determining the provenance of documents.
An important opportunity for dialogue with conservators and restorers, showing how the legacy of Fabriano papermakers continues to engage with the most innovative technologies in the service of safeguarding cultural heritage.
