The Foundation expands its archival heritage: the restoration project has been completed
The Foundation continues its commitment to safeguarding and enhancing the archival heritage inherited from the historic Fabriano paper mills. Following authorization from the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency of the Marche region, the dusting, disinfection, and reconditioning of 41 linear meters of documents from the decommissioned paper mill warehouses have been completed.
The collection, consisting of approximately 1,100 items including letter-copying registers and accounting books dating from 1903 to 1955, was in critical condition due to severe microbiological contamination and prolonged storage in unsuitable environments. After being secured, the material was transferred to the new shelving units installed at the Foundation.
This represents an important step not only in ensuring the proper preservation of these historical records, but also in enriching the broader history of papermaking. Once cataloguing is completed, the collection will be made available to users, further expanding opportunities for study and research
